Can I get the app without Google Play or the App Store?
Yes. A MEGA APK download is available directly from our GitHub. It’s the same app we publish on Google Play, just without going through the Play Store.
Is the MEGA APK from GitHub safe?
Yes. It’s the only direct download we publish ourselves, and it matches the app on Google Play. We can’t verify MEGA app files hosted anywhere else, so only download from Google Play, the App Store, or our GitHub.
What can the app do that the desktop app can’t?
The mobile app adds features built for being on the go: automatic camera uploads, offline access to your files, document scanning, and live text detection on iOS. See our install guide to get set up.
Is my data private on the mobile app?
Yes. MEGA uses zero-knowledge encryption, so your files are encrypted before they leave your device — not even we can see them. You can add extra protection with two-factor authentication (2FA), a passcode, or biometric login.
